I love featuring authors on my website! A large community of friends is always awesome! If you would like to take part, here's some guidelines:
First, I need a headshot. If you don't have one, have a friend come over with a digital camera and take one. It doesn't need to be professional but remember that your readers will look at the headshot and make judgements. If you write Westerns, I suggest wearing a cowboy hat. If you write romance, have soft lighting and wear something silky. Don't take those suggestions too literally. Be yourself and show your readers you but remember to send an image you want with it.
Second, I need a Q&A. A Q&A is a list of questions and the answers to them. Have questions about yourself, your books, your characters, etc. To make my life easier, have the questions formatted as below. Replace all of the YNH with your first name. Here's a list of sample questions:
Me: What motivated you to start writing?
YNH:
Me: Tell me a little bit about your story. (Synopsis –keep it to 2 paragraphs)
YNH:
Me: What motivates your main character?
YNH:
Me: Are your characters based upon people from your life?
YNH:
Me: Who was your favorite character to write?
YNH:
Me: Where is your book available?
YNH:
Me: Who are you reading right now?
YNH:
Me: Who are your favorite authors?
YNH:
Me: What is your advice for new or aspiring authors?
YNH:
Remember, these are only suggestions. Please add more questions as you see fit or remove some questions if they don't fit you.
Once you have everything, send an email to sabrina at sabrinasumsion dot com and put "Interview Request for <Your Name>" in the Subject Box. Attach your headshot to the email and paste your Q&A in the email. Remember to flatter me and tell me how wonderful I am . . . and beautiful . . . and thin . . .
Ok, you don't have to flatter me. It won't bump you up in the interview queue but a girl needs to hear good stuff, right?
Remember, if you submit your information to me, it grants me permission to use your image and your questions how I see fit. I might play around with the wording a bit to fit my style and correct grammar that bugs me. All in all, I'll try to stay true to what you sent.
Ready? Set? Send me your info!
